For an optimal lawn, carefully follow these steps for planting grass seed.

Planting a New Lawn:

  1. Turn the soil to a depth of 20 to 30 centimeters.

  2. Clear the area of large stones and weeds manually.

  3. Enrich with topsoil if the existing soil is suboptimal or not level.

  4. Even out the soil with a rake to create a smooth seedbed.

  5. Apply Pre-Seed Fertilizer recommended for this stage.

  6. After applying fertilizer, wait a week before sowing the seeds.

  7. Distribute the seeds at the suggested rate, either manually or with a mechanical spreader.

  8. Gently rake the seeds to ensure they are lightly covered by soil.

  9. Add a thin layer of soil on top to aid seed germination and protect from birds.

  10. Firm the soil by walking over it or using a roller.

  11. Water the area thoroughly immediately after sowing and keep it moist until the lawn is established.

  12. Prevent the soil from drying out as it can hinder the growth of the grass.

Reviving an Existing Lawn:

  1. Apply Weed, Feed & Moss Killer for optimal lawn preparation.

  2. Post-application, wait eight weeks before overseeding.

  3. Use a rake to remove dead grass, moss, and weeds, and to loosen the soil.

  4. Sow the seeds at the recommended density, either by hand or with a spreader.

  5. Lightly rake the seeds to ensure they are just below the soil surface.

  6. Cover with a thin layer of soil to encourage germination and deter birds.

  7. Compact the soil by walking over it or using a roller.

  8. Water the area generously right after seeding and maintain moisture for successful growth.

  9. Keeping the area moist is crucial for the healthy development of the lawn.

After planting your grass seeds, it's crucial to follow the right aftercare steps to ensure a lush and healthy lawn. Here's a streamlined guide for the initial weeks:

  • It typically takes 6 to 8 weeks for grass seeds to fully germinate and establish.

  • Ensure consistent watering of your lawn during this period, but pause during heavy rains to prevent over-saturation.

  • Maintain this watering routine until the grass coverage is uniform across your lawn.

  • When the grass height reaches 3 to 4 inches, it's time for the first mowing. Use the highest mower setting to trim just the top inch.

  • Regular lawn health is key. We advise the application of Seasonal Fertilizers to maintain your lawn's vibrancy and protect it from diseases and pests.
